The Mecp2 gene is X-LINKED. Males with the targeted allele are hemizygous mutants
The genotyping protocol(s) presented here have been optimized for reagents and conditions used by The Jackson Laboratory (JAX). To genotype animals, JAX recommends researchers validate the assay independently upon receipt of animals into their facility. Reaction cycling temperature and times may require additional optimization based on the specific genotyping reagents used.

Expected Results

Mutant = 480 bp
Heterozygote = 480 bp and 416 bp
Wild type = 416 bp

**To genotype for null allele (post cre excision) use oIMR6835, TCC ACC TAG CCT GCC TGT ACT TTG with oIMR6833 to amplify a 420bp fragment from the null allele.**

 

Separated by gel electrophoresis on a 3% agarose gel.
