Donna Karan New York ReceptionDonna Karan New York and The Jackson Laboratory held a benefit reception on Sept. 30 at the Donna Karan Flagship Store, 819 Madison Avenue, New York, NY. The evening featured wardrobe stylist Curtis Farnham presenting the 2009 Fall System of Dressing and guest speaker Carol Bult, Ph.D., of The Jackson Laboratory.
 
Guests enjoyed a special 10-percent discount on event purchases, and Donna Karan New York is donating 10 percent of event sales to support research at The Jackson Laboratory.
 
The reception included a presentation by Professor Bult entitled “Genes, Cancer and the Future of Personalized Medicine.”

Carol Bult, Ph.D.Dr. Bult's research focuses on the use of computational and experimental approaches to understanding the genetic systems that lead to normal lung biology and how the disruption of these systems results in such diseases as lung cancer and pulmonary fibrosis. Dr. Bult has partnered with collaborators at Children’s Hospital Boston to translate basic research findings into diagnostic and treatment options.  She received her B.S. from George Mason University and her Ph.D. from the University of New Hampshire.
