Biographical Note or History: Barbara Hendrick Sanford, graduated from Boston University in 1949, received an M.A. and Ph.D. from Brown University in 1960 & 1963. Before coming to The Jackson Laboratory she worked in cancer research and administration at Sidney Farber Cancer Institute in Boston. She became the fourth director of TJL in 1981, and remained for six years.
