Frequently asked questions

  1. “I just had msAccess 2003 upgraded to msAccess 2007.  Now I press ‘start cms’, and nothing happens.  What do I need to do?”

1-      Enable macros in msAccess 2007 (see FAQ #2)

2-      If you then see the message ‘user admin does not have permission to use this form’ (when pressing ‘start cms’), login as another User.  To force a login prompt for mtsadmin, create a password for user Admin (see FAQ 3.1).

  2. Opening your Access 2000, Access 2002, or Access 2003 Application in Access 2007.
  3. JCMS with Office 2007

  5. "When I start JCMS, I see the message box:"

What is the problem?  The tables need to be linked upon initial startup

6. Information about cage cards and how to design your own

7.  Finding the system.mdw file:  Use the advanced search options.  Be sure to select options to search system folders, hidden files, and sub folders.  Search Local Hard Drives. It can typically be found in:

C:\Documents and settings\<your login name>\Application Data\Microsoft\Access

<Login name example> "cjd.jax" The path on your computer might be slightly different.

8. "When I open a form with date controls, I notice that I cannot set the date.  I get a runtime error. How can I fix this?" This usually happens when the user who installed JCMS did not have Administrator privileges on the target machine. The reason the installer needs Administrator privileges is because an ActiveX control (or OCX file) needs to be registered in the system.

9. “When I configure the Pedigree Tracker to JCMS_db, I receive a ‘database read only’ permissions error.”

Reason:  Your  JCMS_db was created as a ‘read only’ database, which can occur with a split database.

Solution:  Change ‘read only’ permissions to ‘admin’ permissions, for all tables in jcms_db.

Open jcms_db .  Go to Database Tools > Users and Permissions > User and group permissions.

Select User/Group Name ‘Admin’.  Select each table, or  Object Names.

Check Administrator Permissions.   Select OK.  Close jcms_db

Re-configure Pedigree Tracker to jcms_db.
