About this Image

The Induced Mutant Resource (IMR) at The Jackson Laboratory was established in September, 1992, and currently serves as the national clearinghouse for the collection and distribution of genetically engineered mice. The National Institutes of Health, the Howard Hughes Medical Institute and several voluntary health agencies have recognized the importance of supporting efforts to provide these strains to the scientific community. Funding for the IMR has been provided by the March of Dimes Birth Defects Foundation, the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, and the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Association. The IMR is currently funded by grants from the National Center for Research Resources (NCRR), the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases (NIAMS), the Howard Hughes Medical Institute and the Department of the Army Breast Cancer Research Initiative.
