| 3.0 | Setup: You need to contact the Diagnostic Laboratory to be sure that ADVIA is working and that controls have been run. Once ADVIA is operating properly, go and obtain the blood samples. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
| 4.0 | Run: Prepare Eppendorf tubes with 20 ul of 20% EDTA. Use hematocrit tubes coated with EDTA. Obtain 6 drops of blood in Eppendorf tubes. You want approximately 160 ul. or more of whole blood to run test. Stir sample with the HCT tube and flush out remaining blood into Eppendorf tube. Use a wooden toothpick to stir sample and to check for clots. Any clots in sample will cause it to fail the test. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
| 5.0 | Clean Up: Dispose of used Eppendorf tubes by placing them in a burn bin or hazardous waste container. Wipe up any blood spills with 70% ethanol. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
