6th INTERNATIONAL FAMILY AND MEDICAL CONFERENCE
UNICOI STATE PARK AND LODGE
HELEN, GEORGIA USA JUNE 24-28, 2010
NEWSFLASH!! HELEN GEORGIA in 2010!!
As most of you know, we had a small gathering of families in Helen Georgia -- "Chelsea's Dream Reunion", hosted by Pam and Bryne Jackson, Chelsea's parents. It was a weekend full of laughter and fun, and some tears. It was wonderful to touch base again with some of our Alstrom family, and Helen Georgia (USA) is a FANTASTIC place! In fact, the Executive Committee has decided to change the location of the next 2010 Conference to Helen.
The town of Helen is wonderful! It is designed as an old fashioned Bavarian village, and there are horse-drawn carriages, wonderful restaurants, and loads of other attractions that our group would certainly enjoy. The town borders on a Georgia State Park, Unicoi, which has a beautiful conference center, lodge, and family cabins. There is a beautiful lake, large areas for cookouts, even walking trails for the blind with Braille sign posts! While in the area, we visited the lodge and conference center several times, and it just feels like it would be the perfect place for us. This, coupled with some uncertainty about the Bar Harbor venue (the Bar Harbor hotel has been sold to a big developer whom we do not exactly trust to honor the contract) argued for the change. Check it out-- http://gastateparks.org/info/unicoi
At present, the dates previously agreed upon--June 24-28, 2010--look like they will work. So, mark your calendars and please take a look at the Unicoi web page and consider extending your stay. Come early or stay late! It's a spectacular place for the family. And we think this will be the best conference ever!

Best wishes to one and all from Robin and Jan!
