National Council Dinner & Discovery Day
More than 200 friends and supporters of The Jackson Laboratory enjoyed its third annual National Council Discovery Day festivities on August 14 and 15, 2009. On Friday evening, guests celebrated The National Council's successes from the past year and honored the recipients of three National Council awards: Award for Distinguished Service, Award for Philanthropy and the Award for Scientific Achievement. The special Chairman’s Award was presented to Trustee Weslie Janeway.
Throughout the day on Saturday, guests learned about the research of The Jackson Laboratory through presentations by Neal Goodwin, Ph.D., The Jackson Laboratory--West's program director of in vivo cancer services; members of the Senior Management Team; Richard P. Woychik, Ph.D., president and CEO of the Laboratory; and keynote speaker Dr. Harry Lodge. In the afternoon, some guests toured the Laboratory while others heard a special presentation by Jackson Professor David Harrison, Ph.D.
It was a wonderful weekend of fun and scientific discovery. We hope you will join us next year!
